Emma Ousley was born in Fort Worth in 1906 and graduated from Pascal High School.  She earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from North Texas Teachers College.

After teaching and coaching basketball in Bedford and Seagoville, Ms. Ousley joined the Arlington High School staff as an English and journalism teacher in the 1940s.
